Healthy in 90: My Journey Begins

Welcome to “Healthy in 90” – my blog about the next 90 days as I work to transform my health and habits!

Today is Day 1 of what I know will be both challenging and rewarding. I’ve decided to fully commit to this 90-day health challenge because real change takes time and consistency. Research shows that 90 days is perfect for breaking old habits and building new, healthier ones that actually stick.

Why 90 Days?

Why not just do 30 days? Or maybe 60? Well, science tells us that while habits start forming in about 21 days, real change that becomes automatic needs more time. The 90-day timeframe gives my brain and body enough practice to make these healthy habits part of who I am, not just something I’m forcing myself to do for a while.

The 7 Daily Must-Dos

The heart of this challenge is seven daily practices that I’ll do without fail. These must-dos target physical, mental, and spiritual growth:

  1. Daily Workout – 30 minutes of physical activity every day, preferably outdoors. This could be running, walking, weight training, yoga, or whatever works that day – but it will happen daily, no matter what.
  2. Healthy Eating Plan – Following a consistent nutrition approach instead of eating whatever’s easiest. I’ll share my specific plan in another post, but the focus is on eating foods that nourish my body.
  3. Drink Enough Water – 64 ounces of water daily, minimum. I’ve got a good water bottle to help me track this.
  4. Improve a Relationship – Spending time each day to make an important relationship better, whether personal or work-related. Small efforts add up over time.
  5. Read Daily – At least 10 pages of a non-fiction book every day to grow my mind while I’m growing my health. I’ll share what I’m reading along the way.
  6. Quit a Bad Habit – I’ve picked one habit that needs to go (more on this later), and day 1 means it stops completely.
  7. Practice Gratitude – Writing down three things I’m thankful for every day to keep a positive mindset.

What You’ll Find on This Blog

Throughout these 90 days, I’ll be sharing:

  • Daily updates on how I’m doing with each must-do
  • Challenges I face and how I deal with them
  • Physical and mental changes I notice
  • Helpful resources I discover (books, equipment, techniques)
  • Before and after measurements to show my progress

I’ll also build resource pages about exercises, books worth reading, mindset tips, and nutrition plans that you can use for your own health journey.

Why I’m Sharing My Journey

Accountability works. By blogging about this challenge, I’m creating extra motivation for myself while hopefully inspiring others who might want to make changes too. The journey won’t always be easy, but I promise to be honest about both the good days and the tough ones.
